Classroom Expectations
Class Supplies:
Students will need a notebook, paper and pencil every day. A one subject or composition notebook is recommended. However, a paper, two pocket folder with the center prongs will work. I will be checking for notebooks on a random basis. If a student fails to have his notebook for a check, a warning will be given. On the second occurrence, a parent will be contacted to let them know their student is coming to class unprepared. The third occurrence will result in a consequence for the student. Notebooks are due in class by 9/25. All notebooks will be kept in class.
Class Grading Scale:
A 90-100% B 80-89% C 70-79% D 60-69%
Grading
Students will be expected to participate in class. Do assigned projects and research. Students will also take quizzes at end of every unit. The quizzes are class based and students will have plenty of time to review with me before them.
Homework:
I do not give any homework for my classes as it is 90-95% project based. All work will have to be done in the classroom.
Absences/Missed Work:
If your student is absent, it is their responsibility to check with me to find out what they missed. They can then work on it when they finish the daily assignment or make arrangements with me to come to my room during Guided Study. I do not allow them to make up work at home. If they miss a week or more due to illness, I will contact the parents to make other arrangements if necessary.
Classroom/Computer Lab Rules:
In addition to the rules in the student handbook, there are classroom rules. These have been explained to the students. If you would like a copy, please check the appropriate box on the signature page of this syllabus and I will send them home with your student. You can also find them on my website.
